Pentoo 2009 beta aka "The longest build"

I know we’ve been sooooooo long to throw this out, but we finaly managed to get something working and here it is, twice, as we’re releasing both a 32 and 64 bit version.

I really would like to thank Zero Chaos for kicking my butt and keeping us going for the past years, otherwise I would have dropped a long time ago if i’ve been alone. That guy did an impressive work.

Kudos also goes out to :

• Melissa Holmes for the awesome graphics.
• Portswigger for letting us include burpsuite in the build
• Chris and Joe from LSO for helping us improve pentoo.
• All the beta testers. Thank you guys, your job means a lot to us!

Yeah, there’s a small delay in the release but we can tell you that it’s worth it. At least for the happy owners of recent nvidia and ati cards. Since we use the very latests drivers from both above providers, there’s some issues with the drivers compatibility but we’re working it out.

Hey, remember Pentoo ?

Surprise surprise, activity on this site ?

We wanted to apology for the kind of abandonment this site has been for the past month/years. We’ve all been busy with real life and couldn’t give much time on these projects.

We haven’t really stopped working on pentoo, and actually we are working really hard on the new version. We already have the base kernel 2.6.28 and are currently patching all the wireless stuff, aufs and lzma being already done.

We should have a beta by the end of January, and we’ll release our catalyst spec files and portage tree once the new version goes out.

Meanwhile, you can head over to #pentoo and help us alpha/beta test if you’d like to.
